Will Yoon Suk Yeol be sentenced to death by June 30?

This Market Resolves YES if, on or before June 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, a South Korean court of competent jurisdiction issues a first-instance judgment sentencing Former President of South Korea Yoon Suk Yeol to the death penalty for any criminal offense.

This Market Resolves NO otherwise.

Resolution Criteria:

1.The market resolves to "Yes" if Yoon Suk Yeol receives a death sentence for any criminal charge, including but not limited to insurrection, rebellion, treason, or related offenses.

2.A suspended death sentence does not qualify as a death sentence for resolution purposes.

3.The market resolves based on the sentence as pronounced by the presiding judge. Appellate proceedings after the first-instance verdict do not affect resolution.

Expiration & Edge Cases:

1.Deadline: If no death sentence has been pronounced by June 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET for any reason (including trial delays, postponements, or a recess), the market resolves to "No".

2.Trial Delays: If no verdict is reached by the deadline for any reason (delays, postponements, recesses), the market resolves to "No."

3.Pardon: A pardon issued after a death sentence is pronounced does not affect the "Yes" outcome. A pardon issued before any death sentence is pronounced, which prevents such a sentence from occurring before the deadline, results in "No."

4.Death of Accused: If Yoon Suk Yeol dies before a verdict, the market resolves to "No."

5.Mistrial/Dismissal: If the trial results in a mistrial, dismissal, or dropped charges, before the deadline, the market resolves to "No."

6.Sentence Correction: If a death sentence is issued by the deadline, resolve “YES” even if later modified/overturned.
